Practice Policies

TELEHEALTH POLICY:

  • In order to be obtain psychiatric services you must be physically located in the state of Florida.

  •  It is your responsibility to ensure that the visit is being conducted in a private location.

  • No visits will be conducted while patient is driving.

 

LENGTH AND FREQUENCY OF APPOINTMENTS:

  • Varies according to treatment needs and goals.

  • The standard time for a follow-up appointment is 20 minutes.

  • Longer appointments may be required for letter writing, parent meetings, etc or upon patient request.

 

PRESCRIPTION POLICIES:

  • Medications will be refilled during your visit. An electronic prescription will be sent to your preferred pharmacy.

  • All efforts are made to provide refills during your appointment, however if a refill is needed in between appointments, please reach out to us via email.

  • 2 business days are required to process your refill request or schedule a follow-up appointment.

  • We do not accept refill requests from the pharmacy.

  • Allow 2-3 business days to process prior authorization requests from your insurance provider.

 

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES PRESCRIPTION POLICY:

  • We cannot prescribe early refills for lost prescriptions of controlled substances.

  • Any evidence of abuse or diversion of controlled substances will result in immediate termination from the practice.

 

NO SHOW, CANCELLATION, MISSED APPOINTMENT

  • Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you! Please provide at least 24 business hours notice for appointments changes or cancellations.

  • Missed appointments and appointments cancelled with less than 24 business hours notice will be charged in full.

  • Arriving 10 minutes late for a scheduled appointment will be considered a “No-Show”.

  • A credit card must be obtained and kept on file for all patients prior to first appointment and to be used for any late or missed appointment fees. All fees will be charged to the card the day of missed or late appointment.

  • Patients who are inactive in treatment for over 6 months will be considered to have voluntarily terminated their care.

 

CONTACT OUTSIDE OF APPOINTMENTS:

  • Communication for any matters between appointments will be through a secure email. Efforts will be made to respond within 24-48 business hours.

  • For matters that cannot wait for our return call, please call the 24-hour Crisis Line at 352-264-6789. In the event of a psychiatric or medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.​

EMERGENCY SERVICE POLICY:

  • Healthy Mind Florida is an outpatient practice and does not provide emergency services.

  • We recommend calling 911 or going to closest emergency room in case of psychiatric or medical emergency.

  • For non-emergency urgent needs, please contact your local crisis center, the National Hotline 1-800-273-8255 or text HOME to 741741 for the crisis text line.

 

MEDICAL HEALTH AND PREGNANCY:

  • Alert us of any changes in your medical health or when you start any new medications, including over the counter medications, supplements, or herbal remedies.

  • If you are considering becoming pregnant or suspect that you might be pregnant, please discuss this with me as soon as possible so that we can discuss the risks and benefits of medications during pregnancy.
